Jaguar XK-E
The Jaguar E-Type (XK-E in North America) is a British sports car produced from 1961 to 1975, celebrated for its stunning design, high performance, and relatively affordable price. Inspired by Jaguar's Le Mans-winning D-Type, the E-Type featured a monocoque construction, independent suspension, disc brakes, and a 150 mph (241 km/h) top speed—cutting-edge for its time. The Series 1 launched in 1961 with a 3.8-litre inline-six, later enlarged to 4.2 litres. Early models had unique flat floors and external bonnet latches, now highly collectible. Series 2 followed in 1968 with design changes driven by U.S. regulations, including exposed headlights. In 1971, the Series 3 introduced a 5.3-litre V12, power steering, and optional automatic transmission, marking the shift to a more luxurious grand tourer. By the end of production, the E-Type had become a motoring icon, blending race-bred engineering with timeless style.
